U2 twice

Last night, I attended the second of two U2 shows at Giants Stadium this fall. This was also the second U2 show I've seen this summer, and second ever. The first was the second show of their 360 tour in Barcelona this past July, on the 2nd of July. Whoa. Whoa.

My cousin Aris and I arrived with third tier tickets that we eventually switched and upgraded and blah-di-blahed into General Admission. (This would also be the second time I'd see U2 from the floor). I heard Muse, the openers, distantly from the parking lot and wish I'd seen them. Noticed they played Hysteria and Time is Running Out.

This time around I avoided the mistake I made at the Barcelona show and brought a camera. I wasn't at nose-hair distance this time, but still very close. (Pictures a'comin).

They flew threw a set of about 2hrs in length and included Breathe, Get on Your Boots, Mysterious Ways, Beautiful Day, No Line on the Horizon, Magnificent, Elevation, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Unknown Caller, Until The End Of The World, Stay, Unforgettable Fire, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy - Remix, Sunday Bloody Sunday, MLK, Walk On, One, & Where The Streets Have No Name, in that order. And then an encore of: Ultraviolet, With or Without You & Moment of Surrender.

From the show report on U2's site:
Sir Mick Jagger, Phil Ramone, Kanye West, Rick Rubin all got shout-outs from Bono tonight, and the near 85,000-strong audience made it a night to remember.

Stand-out moment ? Probably when another youngster got invited to lap the stage for City of Blinding Lights.
The band also smashed the house record tonight at Giants Stadium. The previous attendance record was held by Pope John Paul II after his visit to the stadium in 1995.

With gig goers in excess of 84472 it was a fantastic night at Giants. Speaking from the stage at the end of the night Bono said, "News just in. We've broken every record for attendance in this stadium - including the Pope. Sorry Bruce - we know its your birthday and all". Before adding later, "I know they're knocking this place down...we probably won't be here again before the wrecking ball but it was a magic place for us as well as the Giants"

A good time! A good time! Love shows. Love shows at Giants Stadium. Hope the new one is as good.

Indiana Jones and the Binder of Nerd

Right now, I am making my way through a transcription of a conversation between George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Laurence Kasdan that was the beginning of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. Before they were the infallible titans of blockbuster cinema, they were California boys who hadn't done their research yet but knew a good concept when they saw one. Fleshing out ideas and characters, coming up with bits we wouldn't see for years, cracking on each other. It's hundreds of pages long and I printed it and bound it. I'm a nerd. And a geek. I'm human, and now, I read, so were they.
